Obituary

Ishpeming – Lois E. Richards, age 81, of 80 Co Rd PPL, Ishpeming passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility while in the loving presence of her family.

Lois was born May 27, 1935 in Aurora, IL to the late Sterling and Irene (Huhto) Williams and came to Ishpeming at age five following the death of her parents. She was raised by her uncle and aunt, Alex and Marie Niemi locally and had attended the West Ishpeming School. On September 15, 1951 she married Simeon G. Richards and together they shared a wonderful life. They raised 4 children, Lois mainly staying at home to tend to their needs, although she did make wreaths and blankets of pine boughs for the Christmas Season for a few years.

Lois was a faithful member of the Faith Lutheran Church. She truly enjoyed to be around people and cooking was her specialty. She often would prepare a large meal for everyone follow the guy's hunting excursions. Family was most important to Lois and attending her grandchildren's activities and events was always a highlight for her.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years Simeon Richards of Ishpeming, 2 daughters – Genny (Paul) Parkkonen and Laurie (Eric) Collins, 2 Sons – David (Kathy) Richards and Gary Richards all of Ishpeming, her grandchildren – Tammy (Rick) Larmour, Paula (Cory) Vial, Brian (Cassie) Parkkonen, Joshua Richards, Jacob Richards, Kimberley Collins, Brenden Collins, Daven Collins and Sidney J. Richards, great grandchildren – Elayne, Ansley, Chandler, Averie, Karigan, Keegan, Jagger along with another expected great granddaughter, sister Dolores Reichel of Negaunee and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters – Arlene, Genevieve, Dolores and Dorothy and a brother Donald "Sonny".

The Richards' family will greet relatives and friends from 3 – 5pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Faith Lutheran Church, Co. Rd. 581, Ishpeming. Funeral services will follow at 5:00pm on Wednesday at the Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dave Johnson to officiate. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens. A meal will follow the services in the church hall. Lois' grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
