Obituary
Michigamme – Lois Ann Hamel, age 80, of 138 Brown Rd., Michigamme entered eternal life on Sunday August 26, 2012 while at her home in Michigamme.
Lois was born February 26, 1932 in Munising, MI the daughter of Henry J. and M. Victoria (Bouschey) Chaltry. Lois was a graduate of the Mather High School, Class of 1950. Lois married Joseph Hamel who preceded her in death in 1993. Lois and Joe owned and operated the Ace Hardware store in Ishpeming, along with several other local businesses. Lois was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion. She enjoyed reading and knitting, along with trips to the casino. Lois would always contribute her winnings to various organizations in the area. It can be said that through her many acts of kindness she helped hundreds of the less fortunate. She served on the Marquette Co. Commission on aging for many years.
Survivors include her sister Louise "Tess" Fell of Mancelona, MI, along with several nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will gather for a Mass of the Resurrection at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion with the date and time to be announced at a later date. Inurnment will take place at the Champion Cemetery on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 11:00am.
