Ishpeming, MI – Lois J. (Morcom) Goethe, age 90, lifelong Ishpeming resident passed away at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of her family ,staff at MCMCF and the UP Home Health and Hospice.

Lois was born March 31, 1934, to the late Roy and Viola (Lawrence) Morcom. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1952. Lois married Ralph Goethe on August 29, 1953. They lived in Battle Creek, MI and Denver, CO before coming back to Ishpeming in 1954 with their three-month-old son Ralph Jr. After their three boys were in school, Lois went on to the School of Cosmetology in Marquette, where the students called her "Gram" because she was so much older than all of them. Lois worked for Irma and Sherrie until opening her own beauty shop in her home, which was known as the Hi Lo Beauty Nook.

Lois was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church. Lois loved playing cards along with bowling in her younger years. She and Ralph enjoyed wintering in Florida in their motorhome that Brian would drive there for them. Summer months were often spent at Michigamme Shores, where Lois had many good friends and good times.

Survivors include a son Ralph Jr. (Betsy) Goethe of Ishpeming, Kevin Goethe of Champion, and Brian (Bethany) Goethe of Coleman, WI,  sister-in-law, Mary Morcom of Ishpeming, grandchildren, Kristen (Austin) Hubers, Keith (Stacy) Goethe,  Jessie (Erik) Syrjala, Eric (Melinda) Goethe, David Martin and great grandchildren, Magnolia, Pepper and Dillan Hubers, Gwen Syrjala, Talon and Nolin Goethe, Brayden and Lillee Martin, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Ralph "Riffa" Goethe in 2016, infant daughter Kristen Lou Goethe in 1957, and brother Sherwood Morcom in 2017.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00-11:00am on Wednesday, May 22, 2024,  at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming.  Funeral Services will follow at 11:00am on Wednesday with the Rev. Steve Solberg to officiate. A luncheon will follow the services in the church hall.  Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
