Obituary

Lillian F. (Coskie) Quayle, age 93, and longtime area resident, passed away on March 8, 2017 while under the exceptional care of the Marquette County Medial Care Facility.

She was born on October 7, 1923 in Hunts Spur, MI near Manistique, MI, the second eldest of eleven children born to Daniel and Marie (Paquin) Vertz. Lil spent her childhood in Manistique attending school and developing her strong work ethic. She married John Coskie on June 4, 1940 and lived briefly in L'anse and Harvey, before they settled in Ishpeming where they raised their children. Lil worked many years at Bell Memorial Hospital. In her younger years, Lil enjoyed golfing, camping, and being outdoors.

Lil's sister Theresa recalls that whenever someone in the family was sick or in need, Lil would be right there to help. Lil remained close with her only surviving sister and looked forward to their weekly visits by phone. She lived independently until October 2016 when illness required her to move to the MCMCF.  Lil enjoyed the staff and residents there, and her sharp mind, quick wit and sense of humor never left her.

Lillian is survived by three children: Leonard (Nancy) Coskie, Dennis (Sharon) Coskie, Judy (Nick) Joseph, a sister: Theresa (Bill) Boldt of Carlsbad, CA, a sister-in-law: Lorraine Vertz of Munising, MI, several nieces and nephews, good friends Mavis (John) Wiitanen, and Julie (Bill) Stream. She was preceded in death by her husband John Coskie on September 24, 1984, her parents, brothers: Daniel, Lawrence, Leonard, William, Raymond, and Edward, sisters: Ellen Adkins, Cecilia Willette, and Marie Coluccio and good friend Dorothy (Henry) Rundman.

A graveside service will be held on May 18, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Ishpeming Cemetery, with Pastor Lauri O. Maki officiating.
