Ishpeming-Lilia S. Curd, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 peacefully at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.
Lilia was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on October 16, 1934, the daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian (Patron) Siltanen. She was a graduate of Ishpeming High School and a member of Allegro and the Ishpeming Choral Club for many years. Lilia loved singing, dancing and music. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and solving crossword puzzles. She had a fondness for animals but especially loved her cats. She was a fun-loving, caring compassionate person who never met a stranger.
Lilia is survived by a daughter: Kathy (Kevin) Black of San Antonio, TX; a son: Steven Salmi of Green Bay, WI, 2 grandchildren: Sarah Alvarado of San Antonio, Jeff (Stephanie) Korpi of Marquette, 2 great grandchildren: Izabelle Pearce-Korpi, Luke Joseph-Edward Korpi, an uncle and 2 aunts: Ruth Niemi of Wyandotte, Elsie (Richard) Wells of Aurora, CO, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews
Lilia was preceded in death by her husband Oscar "Pancho" Curd, two infant children James Robert and John Ronald, step-brothers: Sulo and Roy Siltanen, step-sisters: Sylvia Emanuelson and Elsie LeMay, and an uncle: Art Niemi.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming at 11:00AM on Saturday, December 13th, with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives from 10:00AM until the time of services at the church. A luncheon will follow the service.
