Ishpeming – LeRoy W. Mannila, age 67 of 410 Bank St. Apt. #2, Ishpeming passed away on Friday February 2, 2007 at his home in Ishpeming.
LeRoy was born December 1, 1939 in Negaunee the son of John and Tillie (Koski) Mannila. LeRoy had served with the Merchant Marines and had worked locally for the Soo Line Railroad prior to moving to Milwaukee, WI. While in Milwaukee he worked as a machinist for Wenthe-Davidson for many years. LeRoy returned to this area in his retirement years and was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. He visited the Bethel Lutheran Church and the Ishpeming V.F.W. on an almost daily basis.
Survivors include his son Anthony (Georgiana) Mannila of Ashland, WI; two grandchildren – Tiffany and Anthony Mannila; 3 sisters – Gloria (Victor) Trombetta of Negaunee, Lorraine (George) Makela of Toivola, and Elaine Mannila of Negaunee; a sister-in-law Virginia Mannila of Ishpeming; his former wife and friend Beatrice Moore-Reas of Ashland, WI; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers – Edward and Donald Mannila.
A memorial service will be held in the springtime, with inurnment to take place at the Negaunee Cemetery at that time.
