Obituary

Ishpeming – Leonard "Willard" Pizziola, age 85, of 650 S. Pine St., Ishpeming passed away on Saturday November 7, 2009 at his home following a lengthy illness.

Leonard was born in Negaunee, MI on September 7, 1924, the son of the late Attilio and Mabel (Remillard) Pizziola. Leonard served our country in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a member of the Disable American Veterans group and also supported the Vietnam Veterans. Leonard worked for Cleveland Cliffs for 39 ½ years and enjoyed hunting, fishing and being out at camp with his family.

Survivors include his wife Shirley (Asgaard) Pizziola of Ishpeming, children Jill (Ed) Champion, Karen (Dave) Anderson, Sue (Patrick) Cohan, Bonnie (Mike) Waters, Lenny (Shari) Pizziola, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ed (Bobbie) Champion and Shelby, Samantha, Zachary & Ielee Shiroda, Pam (Justin) Sasser and Seth, Sarrah & Madison, David (SeugHee) Anderson Jr. and Eric, Kevin (Angela) Anderson and Tony & Isaac, Brian (Michelle) Anderson and Danielle and Isabella, Jesse Anderson, Michael (Marilyn) Kjellman and Jaimie, James & Reuben, Kristopher (Kara) Kjellman and Megan, Luke, Kayla & Ian, Timothy Kjellman, Susan Cohan, Sherry (Brook) Powell, Paul Raihala and Paul Jr., David & Christina, Ashley (Jeremy) Senske and Zachary, Michael Pizziola, Leonard-Charles Pizziola, and Aaron Pizziola, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Leonard was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Jean Spelgatti, Pauline Burak, Isabell Seablom, and Oral Eugene Pizziola.

Funeral Services will be held at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming 3:00PM on Wednesday, November 11th, with Rev. Msgr. Peter Oberto officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives from 1:00PM until the time of services. A luncheon will be held following the services. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 380 will conduct Military Honors at the conclusion of the funeral.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leonard's grandsons.
