Tilden Twp- Leonard J. Hebert, age 81 of 15475 Co. Rd. 581 Ishpeming (Tilden Twp) passed away, Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at his home.

Leonard was born April 6, 1926 in Ishpeming to Philip & Annie (Cousineau) Hebert. He worked as a mechanic at various local businesses over the years, including the Ford garage in downtown Ishpeming, Hercules Powder Company, and later retired from Ireco Inc.

Leonard was a member of St. John the Episcopal Church in Negaunee. He enjoyed riding horses in his younger years, and was a founding member of the Ishpeming Trail Riders. He was also a member of the former Junction Club. He enjoyed camping every summer and was a member of the Good Sam Campers. More recently, he enjoyed tinkering with his home projects and gardening.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Georgiana, whom he married January 31, 2003; a daughter Sandra (Bob) Tarvainen of Ishpeming; daughter in law Julie Derocha of Bonduel, WI; son Donald (Brenda) Fowler of Phoenix, AZ; 4 grandchildren: Amanda, Philip & Eric Tarvainen and Leonard Hebert; step children: Scott (Sayuri) Tarvainen of Japan; Craig (fiancée Heather Gray) Tarvainen of Chassell and Cheryl Norman of Niagara, WI; 6 step grandchildren; two special mothers-in law: Viola Langson of Ishpeming & Florence Delliss of Ishpeming; a very special nephew Jim (Janice) Grove, along with numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends. Leonard was preceded in death by his 1st wife Eunice, 2nd wife Myrdena, a brother Wilfred "Honey" Hebert and a sister Margaret Grove.

A memorial service will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, May 26, 2007 at St. John the Episcopal Church in Negaunee with Rev Jim Martindale to officiate. Inurnment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Friends may call at St. John the Episcopal Church on Saturday from 10:00a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon.
