Ishpeming - Leonard Leo Bancroft, age 53, of 510 Co Rd PFH in Tilden Township, passed away on Thursday, December 25th, 2008 at Marquette General Hospital after suffering a heart attack a week earlier.

Leonard was born in Manistique, on November 16, 1955, the son of the late Leon and Harriet (Taylor) Bancroft. He moved to this area in his youth and resided here since. He was a 1973 graduate of Ishpeming High School and worked for CCI as a heavy equipment operator for 30+ years at the Tilden Mine until his retirement in 2006. Leonard loved classic cars, especially refurbishing them for local parades. He also loved nature and enjoyed fishing.

Leonard is survived by five sisters: Linda (Leo) LaFond of Negaunee, Cindy (Bob) Poirier of Seven Fields, PA, Sheila Bancroft of Ishpeming, Ann Selph of Mobile, AL, Helen Wendland of Manistique, two brothers: Leon (Barb) Bancroft of Ishpeming, and Sheldon (Brenda) Bancroft of Ishpeming, along with several nieces and nephews

Funeral Services will be held at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home at 5:00PM on Saturday, December 27th, with Rev. Leon Jarvis officiating. The family will greet friends and family from 4:00PM until the time of services at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens in Negaunee.
