Ishpeming, MI- Leo Stanley Nirva, 89, of 1140 Highland Circle Apt 3 Ishpeming, passed away on Monday September 25,2023 at Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee.

Leo was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on June 8, 1934, a son of the late Samuel L. and Mary Ellen (Rysso) Nirva. He graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1952. Leo worked as a Journeyman in the tool and die industry for many years.

Leo enjoyed hunting, spending time with family and friends, and took pride in the camp he built.

Leo is survived by his wife Elaine M. (Tessmer) Nirva, whom he married on June 15, 1957, a daughter, Cheryl (Paul) Smith, of Oakwood Hills, IL,a son, Michael (Janice) Nirva, of Oakwood Hills, IL, a sister Mary Ann (Harry) Klingensmith of Rolling Meadows, IL, grandchildren; Jennifer (Matt) Cane, Scot (Katie) Norris, Joanna (Brian) Syzmanski, Sandra Nirva, Ryan (Karla) Nirva, Samantha (Kris) Pappert, Austin Nirva, Robert Lorden, great grandchildren; Erika, Caspian, Carwen, Aedan, Isabel, Katalina, Ryker, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Leo was preceded by his parents, a daughter, Kathy Lorden, four brothers and four sisters.

A Celebration of Leo's life will be held at a later date.

Leo's family would like to thank the staff at Eastwood Nursing Center for the wonderful care and compassion given to Leo.
