Ishpeming- Lempi Katherine Aho, age 93 of 30 Co. Rd. PPW Ishpeming (Tilden Twp), passed away Thursday, February 07, 2008 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she been a resident since May 2001.

Lempi was born May 29, 1914 in North Lake to Alex & Pauline (Helkola) Niemi. Lempi married Urho Aho in 1933. She was a life long member of Faith Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. Lempi belonged to a quilting club, former member of the Kaleva Lodge and belonged to the band "Tilly Toons" of Tilden Township. Lempi was a good cook and baker and enjoyed spending time at camp.

Lempi is survived by a daughter Mary (Norman) Johnson, grandson Robbie (Liz) Powelson, granddaughter Tracey Davis, 3 great granddaughters Riley Davis, Rebecca & Victoria Powelson all of Ishpeming, along with nieces and nephews. Lempi was preceded in death by her husband Urho, a son Robert, a granddaughter Courtney Johnson, brothers: Alex, Charlie and Toivo, and sisters: Fannie and Pauline.

A Memorial Service will be held 1:00pm Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Faith Lutheran Church, Co. Rd. 581 Ishpeming, with Vicar Luke Smetters officiating. Friends and relatives may call Faith Lutheran Church on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:00pm.

Memorial considerations may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or Marquette County Medical Care Facility – Activities Fund in memory of Lempi.
