Obituary

ISHPEMING - Lee Edward Sjoholm, age 69, of 615 Duncan Avenue, Ishpeming passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at home after a four-year illness of multiple myeloma under the loving care of family, friends, and Lake Superior Hospice.

He was born on October 7, 1937 in Ishpeming, Michigan and was the son of Carl "Ted" and Ruth (Swahn) Sjoholm. He married Nancy Grayes on June 10, 1961. Lee graduated from National Mine High School in 1955 and attended Northern Michigan University where he obtained BS & MA degrees. He was the Manager at the IGA of Negaunee. In 1960 he began his teaching career at Eben High School and after 2 years went to Republic-Michigamme Schools where he taught in the business department for 28 years.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Wawonowin Golf Club, and Ishpeming Elks. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at his camps, hunting, and Wednesday afternoon get-togethers at Perky's.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Nancy (Grayes) Sjoholm of Ishpeming, daughter Cara (Jon) Kamps of Marquette and son Curtis (Julie) Sjoholm of Ishpeming; 3 grandchildren: Karsten Kamps, Chloe and Thomas Sjoholm; two brothers: Keith (Katha) Sjoholm of Kaukauna, WI and Glenn (Roberta) Sjoholm of Ishpeming; sister-in-law Sandra (Bill) Haupt of Negaunee and brother-in-law Ronald Grayes and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl "Ted" and Ruth Sjoholm, nephew Kraig Sjoholm, and brother-in-law Robert Grayes.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday May 21, 2007 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with the Rev. Warren Geier to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 4 until 7pm on Sunday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home and from 10 until 11am on Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers will be Matt Bjorne, Edward Dobson, James and Robert Grove, Maurice Hansen, Roy Kemppainen and Donald Ketchem.
