Obituary

Laurel A. Thompson, 62, Green Bay formerly of Ishpeming, MI, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on February 16, 1954 in Ishpeming, MI the daughter of William and Lois (Westover) Sundblad.

Laurel was a graduate of Ishpeming High School with the class of 1972.  Laurel had two beautiful daughters Tina Morissette and Kathryn Baxter.  She worked at DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans and Globe Printing before moving to Green Bay in 2005.  After which she worked in customer service for several years.

Laurel had many interests in life but she loved to play bingo, shoot pool and make crafts.  Her greatest joy in life however was her family and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. .  Laurel was a giving person with a big heart who always looked after others even before her own needs were met.  She had a great sense of humor and could always make people laugh. Laurel was a loving mother, grandma, daughter, sister and a friend to many and will always be lovingly remembered and sorrowfully missed.

Laurel is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law Tina (Pete) DeBoer and their son Nicolas,  Appleton; Kate Baxter and her children Violet and Ivy, Green Bay; her mother Lois Salani, Marquette, MI; one sister Susan Sundblad; two brothers and one sister-in-law John (Lisa) Sundblad and their children Alexis and Eddie; Paul Sundblad. She was preceded in death by her father William "Bill" Sundblad.

Gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home 400 N. Third Street, Ishpeming.  A Celebration of Laurel's life will be held at 1:00 P.M. followed by an open sharing of Memories, so please come prepared to share a happy Laurel Memory~ Laurel truly wanted this to be a celebration of her life.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the nursing staff at Manor Care East Nursing Home and Bellin Hospital for the extraordinary care shown to our mother over the past several years.
