Diorite Loc., - Kristin M. Bjorne, age 64, of 3236 Co Rd CKK, Champion, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in the comfort of her home.

On August 11, 1956 Kris was born the daughter of the late Marjorie (DeVold) and Gordon Grigg. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1974, and continued her education at NMU, where she received her LPN degree. Kris worked as a nurse for 29 years, most of those with Dr. Richard Bohjanen's office. She had an uncanny ability to remember a patient name, and their child...even after 20 years.  Being a nurse and caring for others was her calling.

Kris was often one of the first people to help whenever help was needed.  A listening ear, a laugh, a loaf of bread, or a shoulder to cry on- Kris was there for everyone. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on church committees, teaching Sunday school, or providing bars for a Lutheran Luncheon.

In her younger years, Kris enjoyed softball and horseshoe leagues and spent many summers with family on the Dead River Basin.  Some of her favorite activities included playing cribbage and trying new recipes. She had a passionate love of music and loved taking walks and visiting with anyone or anything that crossed her path- including interesting encounters with partridges, deer, and turkeys. Kris was ever the champion of an underdog, a believer in magic, a lover of laughter, and was never afraid to be her authentic self.

Survivors include the love of her life, best friend, and husband of 45 years Gary P. Bjorne of Diorite Location and their two daughters - Brooke (Jason) LeClair and Kori (Byron) Tossava both of Ishpeming.  Kris loved nothing more than being the grandmother of her 5 grandchildren - Gabe, Ben, and Grace Tossava, Sam and Will LeClair. She was a loving sister of Denise (John) Spelgatti of Iron River and Gordon (Susan) Grigg of Ishpeming, and sister-in-law of Joan (and the late Gregg) Bjorne of Chassell; Glenn (Maribeth) Bjorne of Oshkosh, WI.  Kris was a proud member of her rather large family, that includes numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Due to Covid, a private ceremony was held in January. Friends and family are now invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 2, 2:00-5:00, Diorite Park- County Road CKK, Diorite.  A brief service will be held followed by a refreshments and fellowship. If it happens to be raining, please contact a family member for an alternate location.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, 414 E. Ridge St., Ishpeming, MI 49849, or a charity of one's choice in memory of Kris.
