Obituary

Ishpeming- Kenneth Willson Ramsey, age 86 of 1165 Ninth St. Ishpeming, was called to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 with his family at his side and under the care of U.P. Home Health & Hospice.

Kenneth was born November 25, 1921 in Hibbing, MN to Joseph & Hazel (Willson) Ramsey. Ken served 4 years in the United States Army during World War II with service in the European Theater. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Ken worked for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Mining Company for 34 years, retiring in 1982 as Director of Industrial Relations. Ken was a member of the Ishpeming V.F.W. Post 4573 and the United Evangelical Covenant Church. Ken enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and just spending time in the outdoors, walking in the woods. He enjoyed woodworking and making many toys for his grandchildren whom he loved spending time with. His family was the most important part of his life. Ken will always be remembered for his quick wit, his sense of humor, and his terrible jokes.

Ken is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Beth" (Adamson) Ramsey, whom he married 63 years ago on September 6, 1944, 3 daughters: Karen (Richard) Saari of The Colony, TX, Jean (Gary) Guster of Three Lakes, and Ann (Raymond) Olds of Ishpeming, a brother-in-law Rollie Jewell of Anoka, MN, 8 grandchildren: Mary Beth (Jim) Ross, Diane Saari, Matthew (Karen) Saari, Brian (Nicole Lofquist) Ostermeyer, Bradley (Krysti Soucy) Ostermeyer, Sarah (Gabe) Ryan, Katie Olds, Russell (Katie Trevor) Olds, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the United Evangelical Covenant Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Terry Cathcart officiating. Burial will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Friends may call the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and at the United Evangelical Covenant Church on Saturday from 9:30 until the time of the service at 10:00 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Ken's grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, one may donate to a charity of one's choice in memory of Ken Ramsey.
