Ishpeming- Kenneth A. Dalgleish, age 75 of 2115 Jackson Ave Ishpeming passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming after a 15-month battle with cancer.
Ken was born May 1, 1933 in Sault Ste Marie, MI to the late Stuart & Thelma (Arbic) Dalgleish. His childhood years were spent in Sault Ste Marie prior to his family moving to the Dafter area. He graduated from Pickford High School in 1951. After graduating he spent some time working on the Great Lakes on shipping boats and also attended Sault Technological School (Lake Superior State University). Ken served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956. He then worked for Western Electric. He later attended Northern Michigan University and interned at Cleveland Cliffs Mining Company where he worked from 1964 until his retirement in 1992. He retired as a senior analyst computer programmer.
Ken was a handyman who always was willing to help others and enjoyed being with family and friends. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching his favorite teams: the Tigers, Packers and Redwings.
Ken is survived by 3 children: James Dalgleish of St. Joseph, MI, Steve Dalgleish of Appleton, WI and Carol (Peter) Keast of Marquette, 2 grandchildren Walter and Ian Dalgleish, a sister Sidney (Earl) Thompson of Niagara, WI, a brother Neil (Pat) Dalgleish of Grayling. Ken is also survived by his loving companion Carol Mae Holmgren of Ishpeming, along with and several nieces & nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Jeanne Freeborn and a brother David Dalgleish.
Funeral services for Ken will be held at 11:00am Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Rev. Warren Geier officiating.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00p.m on Wednesday and again on Thursday from 10:00a.m until the time of service at 11:00a.m. All will be held at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home on Third Street in Ishpeming.
