Ishpeming, MI- Kathy Lee Casey, age 64, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023, at her home.

Kathy was born in Marquette, Michigan on June 10, 1958, a daughter of the late Emil and Mildred (Tapio) Tikkanen. She graduated from Ishpeming High School as valedictorian of her class, also winning the title of Miss Ishpeming in 1976. Kathy attended Michigan Technological University and later graduated from University of Michigan School of Dentistry as a dental hygienist in 1980.

A thrill seeker in her youth, Kathy enjoyed downhill skiing, water skiing, high diving, sky diving, parasailing, traveling, along with countless other adventures.

Strong in her faith, Kathy was a former member of the Eastwood Apostolic Lutheran Church in Negaunee.

Kathy treasured her girls and took pride in every accomplishment they achieved, big or small. Her undying love and care for others was evident. No matter what was going on in her life you could always count on receiving a birthday card in the mail.

Kathy is survived by two daughters, Emily (Jared) Jarvi, of State College, PA, Erin (Halen Carello) Casey, of Hancock, MI, siblings, Bonnie (John) Michaud, of Ishpeming, MI, Lynn Barbiere, of Marquette, MI, Lois Gunn of Valrico, FL, Jim (Carole) Tikkanen, of Skandia, MI.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and former husband Marty Casey (father of Emily and Erin).

Honoring Kathy's wishes, a private family service will be held this summer.

Kathy will be sorely missed by her daughters and all those who love her.
