Obituary
Ishpeming Twp- Karina S. Mann, age 70 of 1830 W. Christine St. Ishpeming Twp passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at her home while in the loving care of her family and U.P. Home Health & Hospice.
Karina was born April 16, 1946 in Marquette to the late Clarence & Hilja (Hanninen) Magnuson. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1964 and attended a medical lab tech school in St. Paul, MN. Karina worked at Bell Memorial Hospital for 37 years as a medical lab technician, retiring in 2009.
Karina was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and United Steel Workers Local 8293 of Bell Hospital where she served as recording secretary for many years. Some of Karina's hobbies included reading, spending countless hours shopping, and trying new cooking recipes. She enjoyed camp time on the Dead River, taking saunas or just enjoyed a good cup of coffee. She was proud of her Finnish/Swedish heritage. She was affectionately referred to as "Mammer" by her grandsons, who she devoted much of her time to and would never miss one of their activities they were involved with.
Karina is survived by her husband of 48 years, Arthur Mann, 2 children: Scott "Earl" (Tricia) Mann of Ishpeming Twp, Kristin (Tom) Knapp of Palmer, her four grandsons: Hayden & Garrett Mann, Marshall & Mitchell Knapp, a brother Clarence "Wayne" (Christine) Magnuson of Waukegan, IL, and uncle Robert Olds, a sister in law Jean Magnuson along with nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends. Karina was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother Peter and a brother William Magnuson.
Karina's family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00am-12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where a memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating.
A luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.
