Ishpeming, MI - Karen Windsand, age 78, of 111 Bluff St. Ishpeming, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023, at UP Health System Marquette, where she had been a patient since the previous day.

Karen was born in Lansing, MI on February 7, 1945, a daughter of the late Pauline G. (Juchemich) and William J. Windsand. She moved to Ishpeming with her family and was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1965. Karen worked in the offices of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Milwaukee, WI for 45 years as a mail courier. Karen returned to Ishpeming in her retirement years and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and reading, especially of the bible. She was a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. She had a special affection for cats and loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Karen is survived by a brother, William J. Windsand,  two sisters, Ruth A. Santamore and Bonita L. (Eugene) Maki all of Ishpeming, along with numerous nieces & nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded by her parents, a sister, Marie Koczor and a niece Bridget Santamore.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am – 12:00pm on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home, where a  memorial service will be held at 12:00pm with John Silva to officiate. A luncheon will follow the services at the Ishpeming Twp. Hall.
