Ishpeming- Karen Barbara Basto, age 72 of 3325 Co. Rd. PD Ishpeming (Tilden Twp) passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at UP Health System Marquette following injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Ishpeming.
Karen was born April 4, 1943 in Laurium, MI to the late Linus & Barbara (Strucel) Pepin. She graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School. Karen loved time spent with her grandchildren and she enjoyed going to casinos.
Karen is survived by her husband of 53 years, Allen Basto, 3 children: Richard Basto of Pennsylvania, Laurie Carlson of Ishpeming and Lisa Basto of Ishpeming, 3 grandchildren: Haley & Nicholas Carlson and Chelsea Raymond, a sister: Dianne (Ed) DeForge of Lake Linden, 2 brothers: Keith Pepin of Lake Linden and Ken (Lora) Pepin of Hubbell, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her parents Linus and Barbara Pepin and her in laws Eino & Ruth Basto.
Karen's family will greet relatives and friends on Friday July 22, 2016 from 11:00am until 12:00 noon at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming where a parish prayer service will be held at 12:00 noon with Fr. Larry Van Damme officiating.
A luncheon will be held at K/D Hall- St. Johns Catholic Church following the service.
