Obituary

ISHPEMING, MI - Kandy Lynn LaMere, age 68, of Ishpeming, passed away peacefully at UP Health System - Marquette on Monday, June 15, 2026.

Kandy was born on February 26, 1958, in Munising, Michigan, to Harold Morin and Alice Burns. She spent her childhood in Gobles, Michigan, alongside her seven siblings. From an early age, Kandy embraced life with a free spirit and adventurous heart. She loved swimming, riding horses, singing, and sharing laughter through playful pranks with her brothers and sisters.

Family was at the center of Kandy’s life. She cherished time spent with loved ones and fondly helped her mother tend their family garden. Her faith was a constant source of strength and guidance throughout her life, and she carried a deep love for God in her heart.

Kandy was first married to Grover Nix Sr. in Paw Paw, Michigan. Together they welcomed three children; Grover D. Nix Jr., Jennifer D. Nix, and Harm W. Nix Sr. Later, Kandy and Grover separated, and Kandy moved to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with her children, where she quickly fell in love with the beauty of the area and made it her home.

She later married Kim LaMere, and together they welcomed two daughters, Pamala (Justin Clouse) LaMere and Lacy LaMere. Kandy’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured every moment spent with those she loved.

Kandy leaves behind ten beloved grandchildren; Tiffany Nix, Grover Nix III, Storm Saylor, Malakai Curtis, Zamir Curtis, Justice Nix, Harm Nix Jr., Nala LaMere, Jaxson Clouse, and JessiRaye Clouse. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren.

In recent years, Kandy deepened her relationship with Christ and found renewed purpose in her faith. She faithfully worshiped each Saturday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she found fellowship, comfort, and spiritual fulfillment.

Kandy will be remembered for her radiant beauty and kind heart. Her striking blonde curls were as unforgettable as her warm smile and gentle spirit. She brought light, laughter, and love wherever she went, and her memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Kandy is survived by her husband, Kim LaMere; her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Paula (Fred) Stinton, Paul (Dorothy) Morin, Pat Morin, Itanna (John) Dartt, and Yvonne Cole.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Morin and Alice Burns; and by her brothers, David Morin and Mike (Ronnie) Morin.
