Ishpeming- June M. Ahtonen, age 69 formerly of 740 White Ave Ishpeming, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010 at the Mather Nursing Center where she been a resident for the past 1 ½ years.

June was born June 29, 1940 in Republic to Eino & Ruth (Kotaniemi) Nyback. June was a homemaker who loved to knit and crochet. She enjoyed time spent with her granddaughter Rebecca. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Ishpeming.

June is survived by a daughter Laura (Michael) Keranen of Ishpeming, a granddaughter Rebecca, 5 siblings: Elaine (Wayne) Hartman of Republic, Raymond Nyback of Republic, Lois Kayser of Marquette, Mae Lamond of Republic and Ronald Nyback of Republic, along with numerous nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Ahtonen, 3 sisters Lorraine Rominiecki, Ruth Fischer and Judy Mattson, and a brother Reino Nyback.

A memorial service will be held 5:00PM on Monday, March 22, 2010 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00PM until the time of service at 5:00PM.
