Judith Ann Holappa, age 78, passed away peacefully November 15, 2020, in Rochester, Minnesota.
Judith Ann Laitinen was born in Ishpeming, Michigan, on March 23, 1942. She was a member of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1960, and earned her teaching degree from Northern Michigan University in 1976.
Judy grew up in West Ishpeming and raised her family there, as well. In 1960, Judy married Donald Holappa in Ishpeming, Michigan. She worked as a substitute teacher for the NICE and Ishpeming School Districts for many years, and, also worked at the Ishpeming Public Library. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going out for lunch with friends. Judy's final years were spent in Rochester, Minnesota, near her daughter.
Survivors include her three children, Sherri (John) McMeeking, Daniel, and Mardi (Michael) Wilson; three grandchildren, Samantha, Amy and Ian; and two great-grandchildren, Gentry and Savannah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, parents, Anita and John Laitinen, and her brother Dick.
Judy's family would like to express their appreciation for the care and compassion she received from the staff at Cottagewood Assisted Living in Rochester, and from the caregivers at St. Croix Hospice.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00am - 11:00am on Friday, July 16, 2021 at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, July 16, 2021 with the Rev. Fr. Ryan Ford to officiate. Interment will take place at the Negaunee Cemetery.
