Obituary

Marquette – Joyce M. (Fraki) Mills – age 65 of 917 Cleveland Ave. Apt. #3, Marquette and former Negaunee Twp. resident passed away on Saturday May 28, 2011 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had resided for the past 18 days.

Joyce was born July 19, 1945 in Laurium, MI the daughter of the late Waino and Ina (Kilpela) Fraki. She was a graduate of the Calumet High School, Class of 1963. Joyce married Robert "Steve" Mills in 1965 and with her husband moved to various towns in the Upper Peninsula while he worked for the Highway Dept, settling in Negaunee in the early 1970's. Joyce was a homemaker, but always seemed to have room for one more, as she would do day care for anyone who asked. Joyce was an avid supporter of the Negaunee Little League for the 21 years that her husband coached, and would be actively involved in the many behind the scenes activities that make a good organization run.

Following Steve's death, Joyce moved to Marquette in 2006 and became an active member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church. She always could find time for family and friends, especially if it involved a trip to a local restaurant, or just to catch up on things at the local coffee clutch.

Survivors include a son Jeff Mills (Kim McQueen) of Wausau, WI, Grandchildren – Ashley Juchemich, Jessica Mills (Fred) Connors, Lindsey and Samantha McQueen & Kyle and Megan Snively, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law - Juanita Fraki, William & Shirley Mills, Darcey & Diane Mills, John & Debra Mills, Sue Bukema, Mary & Ben Smith, and Marcia Savola, special niece Kelly Mills, special cousins Kathy and Miller Schuck, and special friends Barb and Bill Carlson, along with numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Steve" Mills in 2005, and 2 brothers – John and Ken Fraki, and 2 brothers-in-law – Reuben Savola and Donald Bukema.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 12noon – 1:00pm on Tuesday May 31, 2011 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marquette. A memorial service will follow at 1:00pm with the Rev. Steve Hulke to officiate. Following Joyce's wishes, the family invites all to join them for an Ice Cream social following the services in the church hall.
