Ishpeming- Joseph C. St. Andre, age 65 of 832 Michigan St. Ishpeming, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 as a result of an automobile accident in Dickinson County.
Joseph was born May 7, 1946 in Ishpeming to Joseph & Borghilde "Polly" (Johnson) St. Andre. Joe graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1964 and served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1969. He worked 30 years for CCI retiring from the Empire Mine as an oiler.
Joe was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ishpeming ELKS Lodge #447 and the AMVETS. Joe enjoyed playing cribbage and was the captain of the Wonder Bar Cribbage team for many years. He also enjoyed hunting, & fishing was an avid New York Yankee, Miami Dolphin and Michigan State fan. He was a wonderful grandpa who enjoyed watching his grandchildren complete in their sporting events and school activities.
Joe is survived by his wife Dee, whom he married October 26, 1990, daughter Wendi (J.T.) Thomas of Negaunee, grandchildren, Haley Renee' Thomas and Tyler Joseph Thomas, a brother John (Lottie) St. Andre of Green Bay, 2 sisters: Faye St. Andre of Ishpeming and Betty St. Andre of Green Bay, along with nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Joe & Polly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 5:00PM Tuesday, October 25th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Fr. James Challancin officiating. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday from 3:00-5:00PM and the Ishpeming ELKS will conduct a memorial service at 3:30pm at the Church
Pallbearers will be J.T. Thomas, Tyler Thomas, J.J. St. Andre, Justin St. Andre, Eric Renkens, & Travis Renkens.
The Vietnam Veterans of America will conduct Military Honors at the conclusion of the Funeral Mass.
