Ishpeming – Joseph F. Petry, age 86, of Ishpeming, passed away Friday September 15, 2017 while in the loving care of the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.

Joseph was born in Ishpeming on August 24, 1931 to the late Philip and Inez (Harrington) Petry. He lived in the area for most of his life, spending 4 years in Florida from 1987 – 1991 before returning home.

Joseph served the country in the U.S.M.C. during the Korean War. He was a member of the Ishpeming VFW, the Marine Corp League, AM Vets, and the E25 association. Joseph owned and operated the Casino Bar in Ishpeming for many years.

Joseph's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Marquette County Medical Care Facility staff for their wonderful care.

Joseph is survived by a cousin- John (Janna) Hirvela, close friend- Tom Fredrickson and family, special friend and roommate from MCMCF- Jackie. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Philip who was killed in the Korean War.

Graveside services will be held at the Ishpeming Cemetery in the St. John's section on Tuesday September 19, 2017 at 1:00 PM with Fr. Larry Van Damme to officiate. Military Honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America #380.
