Obituary

Ishpeming - Joseph Donald Garceau, age 82, currently of 200 Saginaw St. Ishpeming, passed away at 1:38 PM, Monday, July 15, 2019 at Marquette County Medical Care Facility where he had been a resident since this past November. Joe had been in the loving care of his family, staff at MCMCF and Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.

Joseph was born in Ishpeming on December 27, 1936, son of the late Margaret (Beale) and Charles Garceau. He served in the U.S. Army. Joe worked as the Produce Manager at Joseph's Supermarket for 47 Years. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Joe enjoyed fishing, gardening, painting, wallpapering and truly loved to help people in any of their needs, but above all family was Joe's greatest love.

Survivors include a daughter, Shelba Johnson of Cheboygan, MI; son, Bruce Ruona of Ishpeming; grandchildren - George (Ann) Niemi, Rhonda (Scott) Gravedoni, Dennis (Kristy) Leanes, Joseph (Carly) Leanes, Darleen (Marc) Goyen, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren;  two sisters - Betty McWilliams of Ishpeming; Sandy (Roger) Lafreniere of Traverse City; brother Dave Garceau of Ishpeming; Special Friend, Darlene Weisenger, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret (Cunninigham) Garceau in 1998, brothers Charles Jr, Walter, William and Robert Garceau and sisters Dolly Nyman, Nellie Magoon.

A celebration of Joe's life will be held at the Ely Township Hall on August 17, 2019 from 2-5 pm.

Private interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
