Republic-Joseph A. DuMoulin, age 77 of 340 Pine St. Republic, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the Marquette General Hospital where he had been a patient for the past 2 days.

Joseph was born December 27, 1929 in Belvedere, IL to Joseph W. & Aila (Tuomi) DuMoulin. His family moved to the Upper Peninsula when he was 9 years old and has been an area resident ever since. Joe worked 12 years for Inland Steel, locally at the Greenwood and Morris Mines and later worked for 25 years for Cleveland Cliffs working at the Republic Mine and retiring from the Empire Mine in 1991.

Joseph was an avid sports fan who enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, playing in local horseshoe and bowling leagues and watching Detroit sports teams, especially the Detroit Tigers. Joe also liked outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. In addition, he was always there for his children when they were working on a project at their homes.

Joe is survived by his wife of 52 years Marie (Levi) DuMoulin, 5 children: Cathy (Ray) Waller of Livonia, MI, Joseph J. (Patricia) DuMoulin of Republic, Dean (Mary) DuMoulin of Ishpeming, Paul (Tanya) DuMoulin of Republic and Mark DuMoulin of Iron Mountain, 10 grandchildren: Heather (Rob) McAllister of Livonia, Dana Lowe of Livonia, Stevie (Tracy) Lowe of Howell, MI, Raymond & Daniel Waller of Livonia, Amanda (Dan) Blondeau of Marquette, Randi DuMoulin of Farmington, MN, Alan DuMoulin of Ishpeming, Andrea & Sara DuMoulin of Republic, 2 great grandchildren: Austin and Cameron Lowe, sisters & brothers: Jeannette Collins of South Elgin, IL, Jean (Ken) Schroeder of Green Bay, WI, Jenona (Fred) Ritchey of Marquette, his twin sister Joanne LaFreniere of Escanaba, James (Wilma) DuMoulin of Republic, John DuMoulin of St. Clair Shores, MI and a sister in law Betty Korpi of Republic. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Martin Korpi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00pm Saturday, December 29, 2007 at
St. Augustine Catholic Church in Republic with Fr. Greg Heikkala officiating. Burial will take place in the Republic Twp Cemetery.

Friends may call St. Augustine Catholic Church on Saturday from 11:00a.m. until the time of service at 1:00p.m.
