Ishpeming- John Francis "Jackie" Thornton, age 84, of 111 Bluff St. Ishpeming passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at his residence.

John was born in National Mine, Michigan on February 7, 1936, a son of the late Irma Theresa (Guy) and John Matthew Thornton.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a SN from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1959.

Jackie enjoyed spending time at the family camp, where he especially enjoyed feeding deer.  He was a bear and deer hunter.

John is survived by a brother James (Diana) Thornton of Negaunee, a niece, Terri Hodgins, nephews: Stan (Monica) Brownell, Steve Brownell, and Carl (Chris) Brownell, great nieces: Kelsey Miller (fiancé Chris McKenna), Kylie Miller, Morgan Miller, Sydney Hodgins, Kenadie Hodgins, a great nephew: Kolton Hodgins and an expecting great great nephew Thornton.  John was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew Buster Brownell.

A Private service for John will be held at a later date.
