Ishpeming - John Walter Reddy, age 88, Longtime Ishpeming Twp. resident, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while under the loving care of family, staff at MCMCF and the Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.
John was born in Platteville, WI on June 1, 1933, a son of the late Elizabeth (Stacey) and Stephen "Ted" Reddy. He grew up in Southern Wisconsin and was a graduate of Rewey High School, Class of 1951. He served in the United States Army from March of 1953 till March of 1955. John returned to Southern Wisconsin and married the late Janith Warne on August 20, 1955, in Livingston, WI. John graduated from the Wisconsin Institute of Technology, Platteville in 1958 with a degree in Mining Engineering. His working career began with Kennecott in Arizona, then with the Jones and Laughlin Co. locally at the Tracy Mine, prior to working as an engineer with Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. at various local facilities retiring in 1996.
John was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and the Pioneer Kiwanis Club. He loved woodworking and gardening, along with time spent at camp on Lake Beaufort. John was privileged to be a member of the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight Mission X in May of 2016
John is survived by two daughters, Jacqulin (David) Crimmins of Marquette; Jill (John) Rytlewski of Howell; son Jeffrey (Susan) Reddy of Caseville; 6 grandchildren--Bradley (Adrianne Wolf) Crimmins, Jennifer (Thomas) Hendrickson, Alissa Reddy and Megan (Mike) Crinion, Ryan and Zachary Rytlewski; great grandchildren - Garrett, Julia and Wyatt, Samantha, Jacob, Benjamin, T.J. and Eli; two brothers - Michael Reddy of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Stephen (Carol) Reddy of Lincoln, NE sisters-in-law - Pamela (Robert) Day of Rewey, WI, and Joyce Warne of Janesville, WI, and Shirley Reddy of Brown Deer, WI. John is also survived by his former grandson-in-law Bradley Bazinette and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his wife Jan on Nov. 4, 2015, a brother Ralph Reddy and brother-in-law - Clinton "Skip" Warne.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00pm – 1:00pm on Monday June 21, 2021, at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM on Monday with Rev. D. Michael Carriere officiating with Military Honors to be accorded by the UP Honors Team. A light luncheon will follow the services in the church hall.
A second memorial service will be held later this year in the Livingston/Rewey, Wisconsin area with inurnment taking place at the Rewey - Dietzman Cemetery in Rewey, Wisconsin.
