Ely Twp, MI- John "Jack" Lawrence Mullins, age 86, longtime Ely Township resident, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Marquette County Medical Care Facility.

John was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on November 26, 1936, a son of the late Raymond J. and Margaret B. (Gustafson) Mullins. He was a 1954 graduate of Ishpeming High School and served in the Michigan National Guard. His parents were the owners of Mullins Service Texaco gas station where he was raised and began his love of mechanics. "Jack," as he was called by his family and friends, built his first motor as a teenager which was made for his bicycle. During his lifetime he sold snowmobiles, motorcycles, lawn mowers and chainsaws. He enjoyed riding most anything with a motor. John worked at Cleveland-Cliffs for a time but always kept a hand in the family business.

John was the original owner of Mullins Service Auto Repair, specializing in brakes, shocks and custom exhaust systems. He enjoyed working with anything mechanical. Jack loved making trips to Green Bay, WI and Dewitt, MI to visit family and to shop at Fleet Farm and Sam's Club. He was lifelong Packers fan and also loved watching Western movies, picking blueberries and spending time at his camp on the Dead River.

John is survived by his wife Christina J. (Faelchle) Mullins, whom he married on Nov. 8, 1986, two daughters; Patricia Suiste, of Ishpeming; andSheila (Brian) VanDenPlas, of Luxemburg, WI; a son, Mark (Susan) Mullins, of Green Bay, WI; a step daughter, Shelley (Keel) Stine, of DeWitt, MI; a brother; Michael Mullins of Denver, CO, a sister, Katherine Lundin of Ishpeming, 9 grandchildren: Lindsey Young, Justin (Shannon) Young, Alex (Paige) VanDenPlas, Kiley (Ryan) Thayse, Kacey VanDenPlas, Zakery Stine, Xander Stine, Linkin Stine, Camber Stine, 2 Great Grandchildren; Elijah Thayse, and Brynlee Young, and a niece Debbie Junak.

John was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law Edward Lundin.

A visitation for John will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming.

Burial will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
