Ishpeming- John A. "Spike" Lahti, age 74 of 741 Park St. Ishpeming passed away Sunday May 17, 2015 at the UP Health System Marquette.

John was born June 23, 1940 in Ishpeming to Arvo & Sylvia (Ylitalo) Lahti. He was a graduate of Ishpeming High School and served in the US Army. John worked for Cliffs Natural Resources for 31 years working as an electrician, welder, and a maintenance man, retiring in 1997.

John was a former ski jumper and was a member of the Ishpeming Ski Club. He enjoyed camping and playing cards with family and friends. John also enjoyed flying, having a private pilot's license.

John is survived by his wife Toini (Tarris) Lahti, whom he married on November 24, 1962, a son Norman (Shanda Gray) Lahti of Roselle, IL, a daughter Theresa Maki of Ishpeming, a sister Kathleen (Delan) Dravland of Little Lake, MI, 2 brothers: Samuel & James Lahti both of Marquette, step granddaughter Debbie (Cory) Hocking of Rheinlander, WI, along with nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents Arvo & Sylvia, a son in law Blair Maki, a brother Melvin Gustafson and 2 sisters: Dorothy Snodgrass and Marian Hultberg.

Funeral service for John will be held at 5:00pm on Wednesday May 20th at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery

John's family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home from 4:00pm until the time of service at 5:00pm.

A funeral luncheon will be held at the Bethel Lutheran Church following the funeral service.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 380.
