Obituary

Ishpeming- John W. Innerebner, age 72, longtime area resident, passed away on August 1, 2026 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of nursing home staff.

John was born in Ishpeming on April 22, 1954, son of the late Herbert and Irene (Seefelt) Innerebner. He honorably served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was stationed in the Philippines. John met his wife Violeta while and was married in the Philippines on April 18, 1973. Upon return back to the States, John worked as a fueler at Cleveland Cliffs until his retirement.

John loved his cars, volunteering at the humane society, and animals. He cherished his time spent with Carla’s children on his 40 acres out in farm country, showing them the woods, hunting, playing cards, and having sleepovers at camp. John will always be remembered as being a kind generous man.

John is survived by his sister: Carla (Dennis) Skytta, brother: Donald “Bucky” (Sandy) Innerebner, sister-in-law: Bernie Innerebner, along with several nieces and nephews including a special great niece: Ellie.

John was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Violeta, and brother: Jim.

John’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Woodland United Methodist Church in Michigamme on Saturday August 8, 2026 from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Paul Peterson officiating. Coffee and desserts will be shared in the church hall following the service. John will be interred with his wife at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

John’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice, and all the staff at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility for the wonderful care they gave to John.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodland Methodist Church at 21646 Petticoat Lake Road, Michigamme, MI 49861 in memory of John.
