Ishpeming- John A. Hytinen, age 75 of 1005 River Ridge Dr, Ishpeming passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at the UP Health System Marquette- Hospice unit while in the loving care of his family and UP Home Health & Hospice.

John was born June 19, 1940 in Diorite location to the late Ewald & Lempi (Pelto) Hytinen. John was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, class of 1958. He served his country in the US Army. John worked as a conductor/engineer for LS&I Railroad for over 30 years, retiring in 1996.

John was a member of the former Salisbury United Methodist Church where he was an active member of the Mens' Club which was know for making wonderful potato sausage. John was avid deer hunter; he enjoyed cutting firewood and spending time in the woods. He also enjoyed watching his granddaughters and great granddaughter playing softball.

John is survived by his wife Diane (Stahl) Hytinen, whom he married on June 5, 1965, 2 children: John T. (Tammy) Hytinen of Ishpeming and Jacquelyn D. (Robert) Engle of Troy, IL, 3 grandchildren; Jennifer Hytinen, Ashley (Tom) Pascoe, and Rachel (Junior) Frederick, 6 great grandchildren; Hailey & John Hytinen, Taylor & Madisyn Pascoe, Jayden & Jayce Frederick, a niece Linda (Bob) Bonetti, a special nephew Jason Heikkila along with numerous other nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, and 4 sisters; Sylvia Prophet, Mildred Kokkila, Dorothy Harvala and Shirley Kemp.

John's family will greet relatives and friends from 3:00-5:00pm on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 5:00pm with Rev. Douglas Mater officiating. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 380.

A luncheon will be held at the Country Grill following the service.
