Ely Twp, MI- John "Jack" Hoffman, age 30, of Ely Twp passed away at his residence on January 1, 2024.

John was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on April 1, 1993, the son of Cathy J. (DeLongchamp) and John J. Hoffman.

Jack graduated from Washburn High School, in Washburn WI, and attended Michigan Tech University. While at MTU he received the outstanding senior project design award for his work in robotic laser welding and received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 2018. He also holds three patents in computer AI with his work in machine learning lawn mowers. Jack was employed at Able Medical Devices in Gwinn as a mechatronics engineer.

Jack loved the outdoors of the Upper Peninsula where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, downhill skiing, snow biking, snowmobiling, but most of all loved dirt biking and started a dirt bike club at MTU. He also enjoyed a good campfire and peaceful walks along the beach with his dogs, "Blackjack," "Nugget," and "Pebbles."

Jack is survived by his parents John and Cathy Hoffman, aunts, and uncles; Kevin (Sharon) Hoffman, Paulette (Ronald) Wuotila, Celeste Prusi, Robert (Gerry) DeLongchamp, Mary Susan Danielson, Anne (Robert) Pecotte, Stephen (Heidi) DeLongchamp, Mary "Tinker" (Howard) Robare, and Barbara (Barry) Dale, along with numerous cousins.

Jack was preceded in death by his grandparents; Roy and Shirley DeLongchamp, Marilyn (Tregembo) Hoffman and John Hoffman III.

Jack's family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon on Monday January 8, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming where A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon with Fr. Ryan Ford officiating.

The Mass will be livestreamed, which can be found at ishpemingcatholic.com/live.

Pallbearers will be Jack's cousins, Erik DeLongchamp, Isaac DeLongchamp, Sara DeLongchamp, Justin Hoffman, Bobbi Stein, Andrew Prusi,  Bridget Johnson, and Angela Anglin.

A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
