Ishpeming – John F. "Jeff" Jarvi, age 80, of 111 Bluff St., #203 passed away on Sunday February 26, 2017 at the Marquette Co. Medical care Facility in Ishpeming where he had resided for the past 2 days.

Jeff was born July 22, 1936 in Ishpeming the son of the late Frank and Lydia (Laukka) Jarvi. He was raised in Negaunee and was a graduate of the Negaunee High School, Class of 1954. He married Judy A. Snow on June 22, 1957 and they moved to Ishpeming in 1958, where he had resided since. Jeff worked for 40 years as a butcher and meat department manager for Joseph's / Big Dollar Grocery Store in Ishpeming, retiring in 1998 only to take up his hobby of butchering in his garage.

Jeff was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church of Ishpeming, the Teal Lake Masonic Lodge #202 and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, and the Ishpeming Elks. He was a former member of the Negaunee Eagles Club and the Kaleva Lodge. Jeff enjoyed outdoors activities including deer hunting, fishing, cutting wood, gardening and bird watching. He truly loved all his pets throughout his lifetime, and supported the Detroit Tigers and Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years Judy Jarvi of Ishpeming, daughter Lynn (Bruce) Quayle of Sheboygan, WI, sons – Doug Jarvi of Negaunee and David (Linda) Jarvi of Ishpeming, sister-in-law Liz Jarvi of Cleveland, OH, 6 grandchildren – Brian, Adam and Sara Quayle, Bethany (Brad) Perala, Matthew (Laura) and Lydia Jarvi, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeff was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Vickie Jarvi and 2 brothers – Stanley and Wayne Jarvi.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00noon on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Bethel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:30 – 12:00noon on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where a Masonic Service will be held at 11:00am. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens in the spring.

A luncheon will be held following the service in the fellowship hall.
