Minneapolis, MN – John "Jack" Steven Clark, age 70, passed away January 22, 2024, unexpectedly from natural causes at his apartment.
John was born in Ishpeming on October 18, 1953, a son of the late Sally J. (McVannel) and John P. "Jocko" Clark. He was a graduate of Ishpeming High School, Class of 1971. He attended NMU then worked many years at Robbins Flooring Mill before moving to Minneapolis in 1978. He worked many jobs over the years including with travel agencies and most recently for Medtronics.
John appreciated listening to music from across many genres (he had an extensive CD collection) and loved watching movies, especially from the Silver Screen era. He had a green thumb and was an excellent cook. Over the years, he spent countless hours walking around Lake of the Isles, Lake Harriet, and Lake Calhoun. He thoroughly enjoyed coming to Ishpeming every Christmas to spend time with family and friends. He traveled throughout the United States and visited China.
John is survived by a brother, sister-in-law and nephew, Terry, Linda, and Mitchell Clark of Negaunee; and sister, Cathy A. Clark of McMinnville, Oregon along with several cousins: Lana Derocha, Lynn (Fred) Cox, Dan (Lori) McVannel, Duane (Tina) McVannel, Becky (Brian) Olds, Deb (Dan) Stoner, Peggy (Mike) Bertucci, Bob (Peggy) Clark.
John was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles George and Rosemary Clark, Neil R. Clark and Roger and Darlene McVannel, cousins Ed Kelly and JR McVannel.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, July 19 at the Rest in Peace Columbarium in the Ishpeming Cemetery where inurnment will take place. The service begins at 11 a.m. In case of rain the service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church. A luncheon will follow the service at Grace Episcopal Church Parish Hall.
