Ishpeming - Joanne B. Gaboury, age 81 of 113 W. Ridge St., Ishpeming, passed away Wednesday, August 01, 2012 at Marquette General Hospital.

Joanne was born August 6, 1930 in Ishpeming to Leonard & Ann (Sullivan) Belstrom. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1948 and received her Bachelors degree from Northern Michigan University. Joanne was an Elementary school teacher in Negaunee, Ishpeming, Hancock and Laurium. Later she was the Tri-Parish Coordinator for the St. John's, St. Joseph's and St. Pius X Catholic Church's religious education program.

Joanne had a wonderful voice, where she sang in many local choral groups including the Choraleers, Allegro, St. Joseph's Catholic Church Choir and other gospel groups. She enjoyed playing cards with her Monday Night Card Club, bridge at the Senior Center and playing mahjong. Joanne was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church being active with the church guild and sewing group.

Joanne is survived by her beloved husband Keith Gaboury, whom she married on August 21, 1954. Joanne is also survived by two children: Geraldine Krigbaum of Green Bay, WI and Leonard (Dianne) Gaboury of Ishpeming, 3 grandchildren: Ryan Gaboury, Josie Gaboury and Savannah (fiancé Tom Lance) Krigbaum, a great-grandson Carter Lance, brothers in law & sisters in law: Roger & Ann Gaboury of Ishpeming, Allan & Maria Gaboury of Sun Prairie, WI, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard & Ann Belstrom, her sister, Barbara Oja, and her brother-in-law, Stewart Oja.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 6, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Fr. James Challancin officiating, with a luncheon to follow in the church hall afterwards. Inurnment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
