Skandia, MI- Joanne Carriere, age 86, of Skandia passed away Monday, October 16, 2023, at her daughter's residence while in the loving care of her family and Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice.

Joanne was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on July 26, 1937, a daughter of the late Joseph and Ann (Aho) Amell.

Joanne was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved watching her soap operas, game shows, bird watching out her window and would wave and blow kisses to John while he was outside. She always lit up the room with her smile and loved the color purple.

Joanne is survived by a daughter, Kathy (John Whitney) Nault, of Skandia, three sons Paul C. Carriere, of Marquette, Joseph A. (Kathy) Carriere, of Marshfield, WI; David L. (Gina) Carriere, of Negaunee, five grandchildren Michael, Jennifer, Melissa, Jessica, and David; along with twelve great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Gloria Carriere along with nieces and nephews.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford "Babe" Carriere in 1989 and a brother-in-law, Russell "Poick" Carriere.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming, with Fr. Ryan Ford officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of Mass at 1:00 pm.

Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Joanne's grandchildren.
