Ishpeming, MI – Joan R. Prin, age 86, longtime Ishpeming resident passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee while in the loving care of her family.

Joan was born June 23, 1931 in Imperial Heights (Michigamme) to the late Adolph and Ruth (Symons) Holstein. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1949 and married Merrill Prin on November 29, 1952. In Joan's early adult life she worked at JC Penny and the Peninsula Bank. Later in her life she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Northern Tire and the law office of Clancey, Hanson, Graybill and Greenlee.

Joan was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and Eastern Star where she was a Past Worthy Matron. Some of Joan's hobbies include knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and card playing especially bridge.

Joan is survived by 2 daughters: Diane Johnson of Negaunee, Debbie (Duane) Johnson of Ishpeming, her sister Joyce Emmons of Manteno, IL, 4 grandchildren: Lisa Johnson, Brian (Rebecca) Johnson, Drew (Alyssa) Johnson and Danelle Johnson, 6 great grandchildren: Andrew Hamel, Meghan, Abigail, Mitchell, Lacy, and Emma Johnson. Sister in law Lois (Walter) Quinlivan, along with nieces, nephews and cousins. Joan was preceded in death by her parents Adolph and Ruth Holstein, father and mother in law Clyde and Audrey Prin, husband Merrill Prin, brother in law Jack Emmons and son in law David Johnson.

Joan's family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 3:00-5:00 pm at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming where funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm with Rev. JJ Mannschreck officiating. A luncheon will follow.

Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
