Ishpeming – Jenny Vilona, age 82, longtime Ishpeming resident, recently of 3475 N. Helen Lake Rd., Ishpeming, MI. died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. Jenny was born July 11, 1930 in Simbario, Italy the daughter of Vincent and Filomena (Maida) Galle. She grew up in Italy, moving to the United States in 1956, briefly residing in Bridgeton, NJ prior to moving to Ishpeming, MI in 1957. Jenny was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and together with her husband Vito they raised five children. In 1977, she proudly received her high school diploma from the Community Schools program, and was named citizen of the year in the City of Ishpeming. Jenny will be remembered as the glue of her family, not one to complain, and always showed great patience. Family time was most special to Jenny, and she could always be counted on for her Sunday Italian Dinners. She was a "world class" cribbage player, and also enjoyed BINGO and trips to the casino. Survivors include her husband of 57 years Vito A. Vilona of Ishpeming, 5 children – Tony (Nancy) Vilona of Negaunee, Theresa Vilona of Negaunee, Filomena (Craig) Wolf of Ishpeming, Vince (Kirsten) Vilona of DeWitt and Dominic (Shannon) Vilona of Ishpeming, 2 brothers – Francesco and Bruno, a sister Angelina, 10 grandchildren – Jackson Vilona, Jennifer Marietti, Tony (Katrina) Marietti, Jordan (Ryan) Wojie, Andrew (Samantha Macintosh) Wolf, Michael Vilona, Carolyn Vilona, Gina Vilona, Danielle Vilona and Brandon Vilona, 2 great grandchildren – Joshua and Talia Wojie along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers - Ralph and Dominic and a sister Rosa. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00am-12:00noon on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00noon on Saturday in the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to officiate.
