Clinton, IL- Jean A. (Johnson) Warlin, age 86 former Ely Township resident passed away Tuesday, December 17 at Liberty Village of Clinton, IL.
Jean was born in Diorite to Charles and Laina (Syrjala) Johnson. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1951 and received her Elementary Teaching degree from Northern Michigan University. She taught Elementary Education at the Diorite School for 35 years.
Jean was a past Ely Twp. Clerk, a member of the American Legion Lillian Larson Post #114 Auxiliary and the Bethel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, participated in Bible Studies and Stephen Ministries, and was a member of the steering committee for the Barnes and Hecker Memorial. Jean enjoyed attending musical and theater performances. She also had an artistic side of her, making sketches and drawings.
Jean is survived by a daughter Lana (Gerald) Gooding of LeRoy, IL, a son Dean (Nancy) Warlin of Sodus, a brother Kenneth (Barbara) Johnson of Champion, 3 grandchildren: Matthew Warlin, Sierra Warlin and Jonathan Gooding, along with several nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and husband Leslie Warlin.
Jean's family will greet relatives and friends 10:00-11:00 am on Monday December 23, 2019 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Pallbearers will be Jean's grandsons Matthew Warlin and Jonathan Gooding and her nephews Ryan Johnson, Ray Mattson, Brian Martti and Dave Prychitko.
Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
