Republic- Jean Marilyn (Hendrickson) Olson, age 85 passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at her home at 209 Hemlock St., Republic, MI. She was under the loving care of her children and UP Home Health & Hospice.

Jean was born on September 7, 1930, the youngest child of Jalmer and Fannie (Juusola) Hendrickson. Jean was a 1948 graduate of Republic High School. She married Elmer Olson on July 31, 1954. They made their home in Republic and raised two children Darrell and Denise.

Jean worked in her younger years at Republic Co-op. She took a lot of pride in staying home, caring for her family. She was a very active attendee at all community activities. She never missed a school or church event. Her whistle will be remembered by many. All of her nieces and nephews loved her as their "second mother" fondly calling her "Jeanie Bell. Jean was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic, where she was active in various activities.

Jean is survived by her children Darrell Olson and Denise Olson of Republic, her sister Elaine Heliste of Republic sisters in law Irja Hendrickson of Republic, Delores Hendrickson of Redford Twp, MI and Virginia Olson of Marquette, a brother in law Kenneth Martin of Republic and a thoughtful neighbor Brian Martti, many nieces, nephews and a special niece Cindy Heliste.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Olson, her five brothers; John, Werner, Elden, Reino and Edwin Hendrickson, 3 sisters; Sonia Koob, Vienna Bracke, and Thelma Mattila.

Jean's family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday December 12th from 1:00-2:00pm at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic where funeral service will be held at 2:00pm with Rev. Kevin Kaiser officiating. Interment will take place at the Republic Twp Cemetery.

A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
