Ishpeming- Jean M. Cain, age 76 of 112 Bancroft St. Ishpeming, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at her home under the loving care of her family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Jean was born at home in Junction on July 17, 1934 to William & Leona (LaFond) Sarah. She married Bruce on July 11, 1953. Jean worked in a grocery store until they started their family. She went back to work in the late 1960's, working as a teachers aid in the Ishpeming Public School District. She also cleaned for CCI at the main office and then in the kitchen at Phelps Middle School and later cleaning and kitchen help at the Ishpeming ELKS Lodge until she retired.

Jean enjoyed being a homemaker and what a great cook & baker she was. She was very witty: could write poems or little quips in a heartbeat. For years she truly enjoyed picking blueberries at camp that she, Bruce & kids built on the Dear River Basin. She enjoyed the casinos, especially when she would win. Her eyes truly lit up when mentioning Faith, her great granddaughter and her new baby boy expecting soon.

Jean is survived by 2 sons: David (Paula) Cain Sr. of Negaunee, Peter (Debra) Cain of Ishpeming, a daughter Pamela Cain of Ishpeming, a sister Shirley Roberts of Ishpeming, grandchildren David Cain Jr., Mitchel Cain, Addy Cain and fiancé Joe Lemire, Winter Cain, and Lindsey (Jay Piercefield) Cain, great granddaughter Faith Cain and an expecting great grandson, and several nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Bruce, parents William & Leona Sarah, step mother Mildred Sarah and a brother William Sarah.

Funeral services will be held 11:00AM, Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Scott Lindenberg officiating. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Wesley United Methodist Church on Monday from 10:00-11:00AM.
