Ishpeming, MI - Janice Faye Neuman - age 72, of 235 S. Lilac St. Ishpeming, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Jan was born in Ishpeming on August 18, 1950, a daughter of the late Borghild (Anderson) and Willis C. Medlyn. Jan grew up in Ishpeming and was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1968. Jan furthered her education at Northern Michigan University where she received her bachelors degree in social studies and business administration.

Jan liked working with people and adapting to different types of jobs. During her 20s Jan lived in Chicago for several years and worked for an employment agency. Upon her return to Ishpeming, she worked as a Travel Agent, an Office Manager for Northern Michigan Aviation and Executive Air and a Field Sales Representative for Proctor and Gamble.

Jan had many hobbies and pastimes which included genealogy research, cooking, traveling, politics and history, which included volunteering at the Ishpeming Historical Society. For the past 19 years, she and her husband spent winters traveling, mainly to the Bonita Lake RV Resort in Bonita Springs, FL, where she met many new friends. Jan was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where she had been active in a number of church committees throughout the years.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years Francis W. Neuman of Ishpeming, son, Paul Neuman of Rome, Italy, mother-in-law, Mary Neuman of Ishpeming, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law - David (Virginia) Neuman of Minocqua, WI, Rita Neuman of Houston, TX, Teresa Neuman of San Antonio, TX, John (Diane) Neuman of Ishpeming, George (Karen) Neuman of Holland, nieces and nephews, Heather and Kevin Neuman, Sarah and William Kendrick, Jason, Justin and Jeremy Garcia, Amanda, Wesley and Maggie Neuman, along with cousins, Dan Wright, Claire Rose and Summer Laforce, and Azaleah Camara. Janice was preceded in death by her parents and a very close aunt Gladys Starr.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am - 12:00pm on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the Wesley United Methodist Church. A Memorial Service will follow at 12:00pm on Monday with Rev. Bob Freysinger to officiate. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place at a later date at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
