Ishpeming, MI- Janice Faye LaPointe, 70, of 2105 Deer Lake Ave. Ishpeming, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at her home while in the loving care of her family and UP Home Health and Hospice

Janice was born in Marquette, Michigan on February 17, 1948, a daughter of the late Irene Joyce (Gustafson) and Uno Victor Wiig. She graduated from Negaunee High School, class of 1966.

Janice worked at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in housekeeping and also at SCI Janitorial. She enjoyed camping and an occasional trip to the casino.

Janice is survived by her husband, Larry LaPointe, whom she married on June 18, 1966, a daughter, Sherry (Jeffrey Hill) Steele, of Ishpeming, two sisters, Joyce (David) Savolainen, of Negaunee, Jonelle (Kim) Neumann, of Marquette, sister in law, Sharon (Peter) Dishnow of Ishpeming, Grandchildren: Brittany LaPointe, Tyler (Holly Stimac) LaPointe, Devin (Karah Lawry) Steele, great grandchildren: Xander LaPointe, Derrek LaPointe, Zaine Steele, and 1 expecting, along with several nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, son Scott "Etta" LaPointe, grandson Derrek LaPointe, brother in law Myles LaPointe, and in laws Leo and Sarah LaPointe.

Janice's family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00-6:00 pm on Wednesday November 28, 2018 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming. Honoring Janice's wishes there will be no funeral service.

A private graveside service will be held at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
