Negaunee Twp. – Janet Rinne, age 81, of 50 Co. Rd. 510, Negaunee Twp. passed away peacefully at 12:20pm on Friday, February 21, 2014 at her home while in the loving care of her family and the Lake Superior Hospice. Janet was born October 6, 1932 in Ishpeming, MI the daughter of the late Harley and Edith (Blewett) Paju. She grew up in Ishpeming and was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School. Janet married Neil Rinne and together they raised their four children, initially living in Ishpeming, then while Neil was in the Navy resided in Memphis, TN and Miami, FL. Later they moved to Illinois for nearly 15 years and had spent the last 40 years in Negaunee Twp. Janet had worked for the Acocks Medical Care Facility which later became the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility, first in the kitchen and later as a healthcare aid for a period of 10 years, retiring on Jan. 1, 1995. Janet loved to paint, especially nature scenes. Her other hobbies and activities included sewing and crocheting, gardening and playing Bingo. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Neil H. Rinne of Negaunee Twp., three children – Stephen (Gloria) Rinne of Deerton, Cheryl (Mark) Melka of Negaunee Twp., and Karen Rinne of Statesboro, GA, a sister Mary (George) Sundberg of Ishpeming, 3 grandchildren – Alan Melka, Lisa (fiancé Derek Frisk) Melka and Troy Rinne, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Lenard Rinne, a sister Alice Tarter and a brother Jack Paju. The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am – 12:00noon on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 12:00noon on Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Tooman to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
