Ishpeming – Jane King, age 96, of 795 S. Pine St., Ishpeming passed away on Tuesday August 9, 2011 at her home in Ishpeming while in the loving care of her family and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.
Jane was born December 2, 1914 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late Frederick and Jane (Mitchell) Argall. Jane completed her schooling in 1972, a graduate of the Community Schools High School program. Jane had worked first at the H.W. Gossard Co. in Ishpeming. She then worked as a sales clerk at the J.J. Newberry Store in Ishpeming and later at the H.W. Woolworth Store in Marquette, and also found time to be a Tupperware dealer and Sandi Toy dealer for several years.
Jane was an active at the Salisbury United Methodist Church where she was a lifelong member. She did volunteer work for the American Red Cross during World War II. Jane found time to be Girl Scout leader for over 30 years, and had helped with the Boy Scouts for several years. Jane was a life member of the Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge of which she was still serving as secretary. She was a Past Guardian of the Job's Daughters.
Survivors include a son Wm. James (Joyce) King of Grand Forks, ND, a daughter Charleen (Thomas) Willey of Ishpeming, a daughter-in-law Diane King of Ishpeming, 10 grandchildren – Brian (Jeop) King, William King, Jerry King, Noreen King, Jacqueline (David) Luzi, Andrea (Richard) Harvey, Jermaine King, Deneishaa King, Bailey Willey and Tyler Wiley, 9 great grandchildren – Connor, Jasmine, Anne, Harrison, Johanna, Ian, Sara, Mackenzie, and Nevaeh. She was preceded in death by her Husband James L. King, a son Keith King, a grandson James L. King, 2 sisters – Lilly Sexton and Laura Coombe and 3 brothers Albert, William and Fred Argall along with an infant sister Mary Jane Argall.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Thursday August 11, 2011 at the Salisbury United Methodist Church in Ishpeming. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm on Thursday at the Salisbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Terri Branstrom to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
