Obituary

Ishpeming- Jamie S. Reichardt, age 34 of 1083 Suncliffe Dr Ishpeming, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor from complications associated with liver failure. He had been hospitalized for two weeks with his loving family at his side throughout the entire ordeal.

Jamie was born August 23, 1977 in Ontonagon, to Harold & Dianne (Guilbault) Reichardt. After living in Valparaiso, Indiana, Jamie's family moved to Ishpeming in 1984 where he graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1996. Jamie received an Associates Degree in Business from Northern Michigan University in 2004.

Depending on your relationship with Jamie, you knew him as Jamie, Jame Boy, Buddy, Pal, Uncle or Colonel.

Jamie managed to do something in his life that most of us struggle to do in ours. He found happiness. He had a passion for golf and when he wasn't working in the pro shop at Wawonowin Country Club where he has spent the last 15 years, he was playing the course. If you met Jamie anywhere you walked away with a smile on your face. If you played with him or against him you appreciated how someone could maximize their abilities. He was a tough competitor. Jamie didn't hit the ball far off the tee but he could always find the ball in the fairway. His short game was phenomenal, especially his chipping, and he could get up and down with the best of them. With all the rounds of golf he played in his lifetime you could count the number of lost balls on his two hands. Jamie also recorded a hole-in-one on two separate occasions, a feat that most golfers are never able to achieve. Occasionally Jamie would take some golfing advice from one or both of his brothers-in-law, Kevin or Jared, but he seldom needed it.

Jamie also enjoyed bowling in the Monday Night Industrial League on the same team as his Dad. He played video games, went camping with his Mom, Dad, sisters and nieces and watched NCAA basketball games, especially during March Madness. Jamie named his cat "Sparty" after his favorite basketball team, the Michigan State Spartans. He also worked at both the Best Western Country Inn & Jasper Ridge Inn in Ishpeming. Jamie was fortunate to see some of the best golfers in the world while attending the Buick Open, U.S. Open and the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.

Jamie's sisters, Ronda and Renee, adored him and he had an opportunity to spend quality time with both his Mom and Dad. He attended most of his niece Megan's travel basketball games and all of her high school games. He helped to babysit both nieces Madelyn and Jillian and follow them in their activities. He is going to be sorely missed.

Jamie is survived by his parents Dianne & Harold Reichardt, 2 sisters: Ronda (Kevin) Manninen and Renee (Jared) Koski; 3 nieces: Megan Manninen, Madelyn & Jillian Koski all of Ishpeming; maternal grandmother Etta Guilbault of Greenland; aunts & uncles: Bill (Ly) Guilbault of Colorado Springs, CO, Dave (Betsy) Guilbault of Greenland, Carolyn Richmond of Appleton, WI, Susan (Don) Helsel of Ontonagon, Nancy (Stanley) Niemi of Ontonagon and Paul (Marian) Reichardt of Ontonagon along with numerous cousins. Jamie was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Charles Guilbault, paternal grandparents Harold & Estrid Reichardt and an uncle Peter Reichardt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Friday, May 18th at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala officiating.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00-8:00pm and on Friday at St. John's Church from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am.

Pallbearers will be Jared Koski, Kevin Manninen, Bill & Dave Guilbault, Brandon Skytta and Sam Genord.

The world is a better place because Jamie was in it. We love you, Jamie, and we will think of you every day. When we look up we will know that you are smiling down at us.
