Ishpeming- James G. Sommers, age 78 passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming.
James was born May 29, 1930 in Detroit to William & Olive ( Redmond ) Sommers. He worked in a cardboard box manufacturing plant in Detroit prior to moving to the Upper Peninsula. While in the U.P. he worked in Gladstone for the Alger-Delta Co-op. James enjoyed fishing as one of his hobbies.
James is survived by 6 children: Mary (Stephen) Rae of Menominee, MI, Crystal Joski of Luxemburg, WI, Allen (Nancy) Sommers of Algoma, WI, Lynn Vermote of Escanaba, MI, Lori (Ron) King of Tennessee, James (Sally) Sommers of Wilson, MI, a brother John (Ruth) Sommers of Shelby Twp, MI., and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, niece and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents William & Olive, Twin brother William, sister Willhemina, and son James Jr.
There will be no immediate services for James, future services pending.
